Ralph Raccoon
For ideas on partially bringing back the way things were before 1972, I am interested in seeing the following changes made after the Confederation Line is extended: Route 5 extended along Wellington Street and Booth Street in Ottawa, the Chaudière Bridge across the Ottawa River, then Eddy Street and Alexander Tache Boulevard in Gatineau, ending at Promenade / Terrasses De La Chaudière. Route 58 running along Woodroffe, passing through Carlingwood, then returning to Woodroffe, as part of being adjusted to operate between Moodie and New Orchard. J.OT13
Found this page on the Carleton University website. Official Ottawa transit maps dating all the way back to 1929. https://library.carleton.ca/find/gis/geospatial-data/oc-transpo-transit-routes Link to post
Moderator Shane Posted January 23 Moderator Share Posted January 23 A simpler time back then. I would have loved to have experienced the Ottawa Streetcars back in the day. Still hopeful one day they make a return in some form, with 2 or so routes through downtown or the market. Link to post

They've ran through Woodroffe pre Carlingwood so they determined that they'd make the 174 (Route 87 today) which already runs on Woodroffe servce Woodroffe/Fairlawn to Carlingwood back in the 90's. They've already got the 11 and 153 today running on Richmond so I honestly don't think they'd extend the 58 to where you're describing, especially with service being cut to Lincoln Fields from Carlingwood in Setpember 2004. Here are scans for reference. 1990 1992 1994 1996 2001 June 2004 Sept. 2004 Link to post
Ralph Raccoon
When the work on Westboro, Kichi Sibi, Lincoln Fields, Queensway, Iris and Algonquin Stations is underway, I would like to see route 75 permanently further adjusted to operate along Woodroffe Avenue between Algonquin Station and the Ottawa River Parkway, then operating along Parkdale Avenue, before operating along Scott Street on the way to Tunney's Pasture Station. With such an adjustment, there needs to be one new bus stop for route 75 on each side of the Ottawa River Parkway, next to the short road leading to Kitchissippi Lookout. At the same time, route 74 should be adjusted to operate along West Hunt Club Road, Knoxdale Road, Newhaven Street and Majestic Drive, replacing route 284, with route 87 replaced by an adjustment of service on route 74 between Algonquin and Tunney's Pasture. On another note, route 81 should be extended to operate in both directions along Baseline Road between Merivale Road and Clyde Avenue, then operate along Erindale Drive, Navaho Drive and Iris Street, before operating along Woodroffe Avenue, between Iris Street and New Orchard Station, serving Carlingwood Shopping Centre along the way, when rail service on the Confederation Line between Tunney's Pasture and Algonquin Station begins operating. Like the original 95 routing? This would make more sense to give that routing to the 87, since it replaced the former 174 and that it's terminus would not be much more far. Despite proposal to shorten the 74 to Nepean Woods, it's still a pretty long route and would certainly significantly add more time for those trying to head to Tunney's Pasture.
