When you live next to a train station being built....

I got through years of living above the Rideau station construction: explosions, the ho-ramming, the stench of the pressurized gray waterproof goo that ruined our storage unit...

and now...

The omnipresent "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP" of equipment at the Chicago Metra/Union Pacific North's Ravenswood stop.

At least I can take the train between the two places!

  1. Metra: Ravenswood to Chicago Union Station
  2. Amtrak: Chicago Union Station Lake Shore Limited to Buffalo NY Depew.
  3. Amtrak: Maple Leaf Service, Buffalo Depew to Toronto Union Station
  4. Via Rail: Toronto Union Station to Ottawa Tremblay
  5. O-Train: Tremblay to Rideau.

When service returns to normal on the Maple leaf, I am going to do this.  I can't wait to see how long it will take.

Would make for a very interesting trip, passing through many areas and using several lines to connect. Always great to see such trips being possible entirely by rail.

It would be. I can literally walk in under 1 minute to and from the start and finish stations.  I am more than certain there will be a looooooooong layover in Buffalo.
