The inaugural MR-63 has been restored and sent to the Exporail Museum

After the MR-63 (the original Metro trains) finished service on the Montreal Metro several were acquired for various projects in and around Montreal.

The inaugural train 81-502 was restored by the STM, complete with the original paint livery it had back in 1966. On September 17, 2018 it exited the STM facilities and was loaded onto a truck to be transported to the Exporail Museum.

Here are some photos that the STM posted of the newly repainted Metro car and the process of loading it on to the truck for transport.

Eager to see it live on in the museum.

    It would be fantastic if Ottawa had a national railway museum (closer to the city centre because Expo and Halton are not) that could contain old rapid transit cars from numerous systems.
