April 26, 20197 yr You may have seen the viral videos about the construction of a railway station in China... in 9 hours! Well, now they are building a high speed train line in a way I had never seen before: impressive! Currently. in Paris, where they never stopped adding to their network, they use something similar to this: There is another documentary, in French this time, about the City of Lyon's métro. I put it here because I think the animation speaks for itself. These moving industrial plants will probably make it here one day. If economic and population growth continue (and LRT is going to be an economic booster), we could see more stations in downtown Ottawa and Gatineau as new lines will be created.
April 26, 20197 yr Author Elon Musk's project is described here: It is not the same thing as the "train in the backyard" which move due to the variations in the air pressure. This is about keeping individual cars on the road (or below it rather). Musk says that all the vehicles will have to be on auto-pilot and in this video where he scares the this poor interviewer who had no idea the tunnel was son narrow and the car could go well beyond a 100 miles per hour. The video gives you a real sense of how scary the experience can be. This is a cool idea and maybe there could be other applications than daily traffic. What if, for example, you could have ambulances an other first responders getting to the scene of any emergency much quicker than they can now with this new system. And when will all electric cars be affordable for people living with middle class wages? I really like his sense of innovation, his creativity and ingenuity. In my mind, he is in the same category as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and others who have revolutionized our way of life, no less.
