I believe you are referring to the Elevator.

Yep, that's exactly what I meant, and yet managed to mess up!

I recall seeing those notices once in a while for the elevator being replaced by ParaTranspo. It's really a bad system. I get they want the station to all be within the fare paid area, but the design could be better for this.

Good Day.

Yes, the design could be better, but this is what we get for lesser cost and faster construction time when they modified it rather than rebuilding the entire site.

Remember that the original plan for Blair had been rail under bus loop - immeasurably better (like St.Laurent, which could easily be fare-paid) but more costly and longer construction and more disruption. It also would have been better for eastward extension - a straight tunnel under Blair Rd. , again like St.Laurent, rather than curvey-curvey. (St.Laurent still needs to have the surface bus loop rebuilt because of leakage problems - hence the drip pans at the joints in the tunnel roof - just look up at the roof from the train platform.)

Conversely, for a similar situation, we have the plans for Place d'Orleans, and its' extra fare-paid ped-bridge. Flip side of the same coin. Which rediculous do you prefer ?

We had our baby in the stroller so we weren't willing to risk climbing the stairs like that.

Just pretend you're going up a very long set of stairs on a classic assigned to an assessible route, it's not that bad :classic_tongue: In all seriousness, didn't they say they're looking to add an additional elevator at Blair as a backup incase the small broke down as often as it did? I'm still waiting to see on how they're going to have an additional elevator adjacent to the current one that connects you with G.C and Blair Station Bridge

Thanks for the info. Any timeline on the St-Laurent re-build? It seems 2024 would be a good target date logistically. Most of the east-end transfers will have been moved to Orleans which clears Blair to take on the former St-Laurent transfers while it gets re-built. In addition, construction could coincide with the new pedestrian bridge to the Federal complex proposed on the south side of the Queensway on Tremblay. That said, another three years of leakage could cause further serious damage to the tunnel structure.

At the Blair side, I'm looking forward to seeing more detailed plans for the new residential tower set to be integrated with the station via a pedestrian bridge. Based on preliminary renderings, it seems they want to remove the entire stair/elevator tower where the City is currently planning on replacing the problematic equipment.

Good Day.

There is no extant timeline for a St.Laurent bus loop rebuild. They could not do it at the time of Phase 1 due to the use of the loop as T-way replacement service. As you note, a good time for it would be after the opening of the eastern Phase 2. As for furthur damage........well, they tried to re-seal the joints at the time of Phase 1, but <snort>. It has been leaking to some degree for years, but the Phase 1 conversion exacerbated the leaks big time. No patchwork was going to suffice, but they tried.
