September 10, 20206 yr Noting the EA on Barrhaven, is there supposed to be a stage 3 in the East as well? And if not, why not?
September 10, 20206 yr Mod Squad So far there doesn't seem to be any immediate plans for further extension into the east other than what is currently happening with Stage 2. There has been talk for a decent length of time of a BRT from Blair into Orleans via Innes.... I think there is more priority to get Kanata on rail with Stage 3 and Barrhaven than add additional service of this level to the east. I do think a second line will happen but it would probably be more of a Stage 4 eventuality or later, if not a BRT sooner.
September 10, 20206 yr Author Kanata and Orléans are basically equal in size, given population stats I just checked. In my view stage 3 should include both.
September 10, 20206 yr Mod Squad Yes but my point is currently Stage 2 will bring the train across Orleans as far as Trim, but only to Moodie which is pretty much the outer edge of Kanata... not into Kanata. Once Stage 3 happens, Kanata will have some level of pairity that Orleans would have had for several years. While I am not against a second line into Orleans, I don't see them giving that priority over Montreal Road or Carling Avenue, if not someplace else deemed important, as those seem to be building in traction and interest. Time will tell as they are working on the new Transportation Master Plan, so priorities may shift with that. What I do see happening is a BRT from Blair into Orleans south, that possibility seems to be further along and potentially more likely to happen than LRT in the relative near future.

Even creating an Innes Transitway is a waste IMO. The only reason it's as slow on Innes is because of the 2011 cuts. Before the cuts, the 94 would only provide limited service on Innes while the 125 served everywhere along Innes so basically if some form of rapid transit were to take place, they should split the 25 into 2 routes. 25: *Will use the Blackburn Hamlet Bypass and provide limited service on Innes for a faster trip. Will provide full service east of Tenth Line. 31: *To PDO: Will have a new routing. Will Follow Route 25's routing until Blackburn Hamlet Bypass where it will serve the local community of Innes, then serve Tenth Line to PDO. *Will be increased to operate 7 days a week. *Service on St. Joseph will continue to be provided by the 28 and 131.
