Montreal

When it comes to station names, this one bother me. Like Carling, Montreal is a major thoroughfare in the City. Although not served by any rapid transit stations at the moment, the name is better associated with Vanier. This is also the point where the street changes name from Montreal to St-Joseph. I think Beacon Hill would have been a better choice. Or Greens Creek.

Couldn't agree more, there are a few other stations that have similar issues with the name not really indicating where it is located. Naming stations after a street that stretches for multiple kilometers doesn't make much sense, far better to as you say name it after a nearby neighbourhood.

Mostly agree too. Most names proposed here do make more sense than Montreal given how long of a street it is. I am still surprised this one was not renamed as, IMO, it doesn't follow their own guidelines. However it is not be the first station not to follow them in the first place...

The irony of this station is it is found at the eastern most edge of Montreal Road. Continuing further east it quickly becomes St Joseph Blvd almost immediately on the other side of the station and overpass. They could have called it Canotek station or something even as that is closer than anything else from a technical sense.

With the routing of the line, this station really didn't have much room to maneuver to be better positioned, but even having it at the top of the hill by the traffic light would have been better, however doing so would have imposed countless technical hurdles. As the east side is greenspace, this station will live forever in the shadow it itself creates.
