November 27, 20205 yr Mod Squad I’m happy they released this information now rather than later. Obviously they need it settled when it comes time to hard coding it into the system, the trains and beyond including station wayfinding etc. i am disappointed on the numbering for the Confederation Lines. Rather than 1 and 3 I would have preferred seeing 1 and 2. Same for Trillum 3-4 rather than 2-4. It isn’t the end of the world but I do agree that the terminology needs to be locked down. The term LRT needs to be dropped and the names Confederation Line and Trillium Lone should be retired. They were all the hype before then the line opened and we rarely see or hear of them anymore except in Stage 2 construction. Even social media and service bursts use the Line numbers only as far as I can remember. I don’t think it’s just me. I find it all simple enough. O-Train refers to the entire system. Lines 1 to 4 or even the colour is the way to go. That should be it and we need to stop going farther than that. Already the site is in the process of making the ne essaye changes to align with that was announced. Going to take another day or two to complete but as referenced today in the press release, the Confederation and Trillium Line names seem to now be looked at as the project names and nothing more, something I intend to reflect on the site to help people know the names that should be used moving forward. Finally the Airport Link having its own Line number is perfect. Regardless of the length, regardless of the shuttle like service, it is a separate line and operated independently so I am glad to see it being represented as such.

I think I would use the blue for a longer line and replace that hard-to-name colour by a bright yellow and assign it to the Airport. I also think the red line should be the one going all the way to Kanata. As for line numbers, I don't have that big a problem. (By the way, Montréal's Subway doesn't have a Line 3 and the next line projected, the Pink Line would be Line 7, so there would not be a line 6 - lines 6 and 3 are abandoned projects) I noted the accent in the name of Montréal Station and the absence of a Park-and-Ride at Jeanne d'Arc.

I'm also not a fan of the color, I think it's supposed to be Gold as in "golden line", but they should stick to primary and secondary colors
November 27, 20205 yr Mod Squad The park and ride at Jeanne d’Arc is at the Bob McQuarrie rec centre in the parking lot. I think the park and ride portion is 2-3 rows of the parking lot. Or just the outer line. Is there actually a plan to build housing there as there does not seem to be much room available? It would be a good spot near transit though.

I was aware of Montreal's never built Line 3, the Red Line. A portion of it is being constructed now as part of the REM. Never heard of Line 6.

In the new affordable housing plan http://ottwatch.ca/meetings/file/579067, they raise the possibility of demolishing Bob Mcquarrie to build apartment towers (part of which would fall under the affordable housing project). There's no confirmations of funding or designs, but the land study and analysis is complete. Much the same for the Tom Brown arena near Bayview, also suggested for demolition.

It would be a good spot near transit though. Ever since the Confederation Line opened, I wondered why there is not more Park and Ride's. I was thinking it would be great, not only for those who work Downtown during the Week, but also for those who would like to go Downtown during the week end. My "dream" would be to be able to drop the car at my future station - which will Jeanne d'Arc - and be spared the driving for the rest of the day.
December 1, 20205 yr Mod Squad Jeanne d'Arc does have a small park and ride but I believe it is mostly a Gold Pass parking lot, unless you sneak into the sportsplex parking. But I agree, there should be much more here and there. Place d'Orleans has a big lot, including the covered parking garage at the back of the mall. And Trim has an even bigger one. Elsewhere it is hit or miss and the lots can only include a couple dozen spots, nothing I would say is reliable to just show up and have any assurance of being able to park, which can be a turnoff, as when you are in a rush and you can't park, you may decide to just drive the whole way.

I thought the whole idea of having Light Rail Transit was to REMOVE cars from traffic and have less GHG emissions. And in my opinion, this logic has to be followed all the way. I totally agree, Place d'Orléans could provide some Park and Ride spots. It could even have a lot where you park when you need, but with a fee. There is so much unused space there... The further out you are from Downtown, the more options there should be to leave the car behind and ride the train.
